8, 9, and 10

We have been super busy and slacking on our daily Bible lessons, but we purposed that we would finish the 10 commandments before Kaitlyn left and so we did..today. We had to do 3 today and take a little longer than we normally do, but the kids were very attentive. Lilah especially! She has been asking me everyday to do the Bible lesson and while we didn't have a whole lot of time to spend on a lesson, she would settle for a prayer.

Today we read and discussed the 8th, 9th, and 10th commandment:

Thou shalt not steal Exodus 20:15

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor Exodus 20:16

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, no any thing that is thy neighbor's.  Exodus 20:17

I always like to elaborate on the commandments for a few minutes and use examples that my 2 and 4 year old can easily relate too. So for "thou shalt not steal" I told the girls about a time when Lilah was carrying a bottle of shampoo and we didn't notice and she carried it right out of the store. Lilah was appalled and said "I stole shampoo from Wal-Mart?" in a shocked and concerned voice. I explained how she took it, but she didn't realize that it was stealing and how had we kept it and not paid for it that it would have been stealing, but that we took it back to the store and made it right. That even though she got it out of the store and none of the employees noticed and we could have easily kept it because no one would have known the difference, that God saw us. We don't live our life in front on men, we live our life in front of God that sees all things.

"Thou shalt not bear false witness, against thy neighbor" I took this one a little further than just against thy neighbor (in our case I used against your sister). I explained to the girls about lying in general and not only did they need to live a life and not tell lies, but that they need to live an honest life so they wouldn't have to lie to make themselves look good, or cover up things they didn't want people to know about, because once again, God sees!!

The 10th commandment was one that I really wanted to talk about to Kaitlyn. She'll be 9 years old July 30th and has a case of the wants. She wants everything in Wal-Mart, a castle, a hundred maids and so on and so forth. I just pointed out to her that God doesn't want us to want what other people have, because he has blessed us with SOOOO much already! Just because we might not have as much or as nice of things as others we have exactly what God wants us to have! I even pointed out how she was even more fortunate that most kids because she has 2 wardrobes of clothes here and her Mom's, two sets of toys one here, one at her Mom's. I hope that she remembers this and learns to be satisfied with what she has and not want every toy in Wal-Mart! LOL

Today's Prayer Request:

Kaitlyn: Justin that he would live (unfortunately I think we prayed a lil to late and he was already dead :/) and for Debra and her family that they would have a safe trip to LA.

Rachel: herself and Grandma Joyce

Lilah: her finger and Jaycee.

I'm going to apologize in advance for the bad pictures, seems my back up camera has decided to act up :(  Maybe one day I'll get one that wants to act right.

It was only a little akward.....

Today we discussed the 7th commandment not in detail, just short and sweet.

Thou shalt not commit adultery adultery. Exodus 20:14

The explaination was, "you can't make it to heaven with a sweetheart and wife" HA! Not really, just told them having a girlfriend and wife (or boyfriend and wife) wasn't right and was going against what God wanted for us.

Prayer request:
Kaitlyn: To have a good year going into the 4th grade.
Lilah: Addison
Rachel: Grandma

Rachel goes to the Dentist

Now that I'm using this blog as a way to document the kids lives I remember to take my camera everywhere and take pictures..weird huh? I was really big on pictures with Lilah and took bunches of pictures of her on a daily basis, then with Rachel I would just be to busy and forget. I'm determented to not be lazy about taking pictures of the kids anymore. So here are some of Rachel at the dentist yesterday.

Here is the before meds picture:

See her little sassy self! She did really good with the med. It was soooo funny she was just like a drunk person. She couldn't sit up, she was laughing and smiling at everything. It made her real chill. She just laid back and went back with them with no problem at all!
After med picture:

You can really tell she's happy! She looks as high as a kite to me! HAHA!

We didn't get any pictures of her immediately after, because she came out and she was upset. She didn't like having her teeth worked on. She was crying and biting her lip. It felt funny to her and she couldn't fill it hurting so she was biting away. I had to spend time keeping her from not biting the darn thing off I couldn't take pictures.

Here are some of after she finally quit biting her lip and went to sleep!
biting on a gauze instead of her lip!!

I can't believe she did that to herself!! This by far, was the most stressful part!! Man, no more sippy cups for my kids!! Geez!

A bonus picture of Andy and Addison!!

The 4th Commandment

Good day! We didn't get to do our daily Bible verse and prayer time yesterday. Miss Rachel had to go to the dentist bright and early so we picked up today with the 4th Commandment:

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Exodus 20:8 (KJV)

This to me, was one of the easier ones to explain to the kids. I think they now understand why we go to church when we go to church!!

Prayer request for today were:
Lilah- Her Grandma.
Rachel- We prayed for her poor little lip that's still swollen.
Kaitlyn-We prayed for God to watch over and keep her safe today.

I really enjoy this time with my girls. If anyone is reading this that doesn't pray with their kids regularly I urge you, take time out to pray with them. They have to be taught to pray, prayer can help them with NOTHING else can. If we've ever needed to know how to pray we need to know how to now!!

The 3rd Commandment

Well, today got off to a rough start and somehow the TV got turned on before we could do our Bible lesson. Needless to say it was harder to get them to pay attention!! But we finally got the 3rd commandment read straight from the KJV Bible and then I gave them examples of things that were considered breaking the commandment.

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.  Exodus 20:7 KJV

One thing I'm bad about is spitting out "Oh my God" without even thinking about it. I've noticed the kids doing it to so I've tried to make a bigger effort to say "oh my gosh" or something else. I just explained to them that we should really just use his name when we are telling someone about him or talking to him.

Prayer request for today were:
Lilah: Wanted to pray for Rachel
Rachel: didn't have anything so we prayer for her to have an easy time getting her cavities filled Monday.
Kaitlyn is still at her Mom's but we did pray for God to watch over and keep her safe.

Rachel is probably thinking "this girl likes to take pictures way to much"
